Hublot Announces US Ryder Cup Star Patrick Reed as Newest Brand Ambassador Luxury Swiss watchmaker Hublot tonight welcomed US golfing sensation, Patrick Reed, as its newest brand ambassador during a VIP cocktail at the prestigious The Woodlands Country Club in Houston, Texas. Reed attended the launch wearing a Big Bang UNICO Titanium, one of the pieces from his private collection.

Reed, surged onto the world scene following heroic displays at the 2014 and 2016 Ryder Cups and famously defeated Europe’s leading player and world No. 4, Rory McIlroy, in an epic encounter at Hazletine National, helping Team USA seal a famous victory.

The 27-year-old is one of the most respected players in the world, and is much-celebrated as the USA’s leading points scorer in both Ryder Cups he has contested. Christened “Captain America” by his compatriots and peers, for his competitiveness, patriotism, and team spirit on the course, Reed has one of the most impressive records in world golf; the youngest winner of the WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2014 – a signature moment in his nascent career – and only the fifth player to win three PGA Tour titles before his 24th birthday.

INTERGEM 2017 : the world in its finest colours

The acclaimed expert Claudio Milisenda, head of the Deutsche Stiftung Edelsteinforschung (DSEF), explains: “Within the commercial colour grading system, diamonds with the slightest yellow saturation are the rarest and therefore most precious examples. Colour hues outside of this ‘yellow sequence’ are known as fancy colours. Their worth increases dramatically in line with their colour saturation. The rarest fancy coloured diamonds include red, green and blue examples.”

The term fancy colour is not limited to diamonds, however. “In the trade it is also used for corundum in particular. The corundum variant coloured red by the trace element chromium is known as ruby, the blue variant sapphire. All other corundum varieties are referred to as fancy coloured sapphire,” says Claudio Milisenda, describing the unique natural kaleidoscope.

A round stepped case, slim bezel and fluted caseback; a railway-track minute circle, “bâtons de Genève” applied hour-markers and Dauphine-type hands: the new models combine the signature
characteristics of the Traditionnelle collection. The warm glow of 18K 5N pink gold beautifully offsets the slate-grey shade of the opaline dial, teamed with an elegant black alligator leather strap.

The first unites three major Fine Watchmaking complications: a tourbillon, a perpetual calendar and a minute repeater with centripetal flying strike governor. The second equally exclusive model also features an openworked tourbillon shaped like a Maltese cross, the Vacheron Constantin emblem, and boasts an impressive 14-day power reserve thanks to four series-coupled barrels. These exceptional creations are equipped with equally outstanding mechanisms in the form of mechanical manual-winding movements developed and manufactured by Vacheron Constantin and graced with traditional finishing testifying to fine craftsmanship and horological excellence.
