AGJA Unveils “ASEAN Plus” Strategy at JGAB 2026:
Thailand Emerges as Global Gems & Jewelry Powerhouse

The ASEAN Gems and Jewellery Trade Association (AGJA) has taken a defining step forward at Jewellery & Gem ASEAN Bangkok 2026 (JGAB) by announcing the “ASEAN Plus” initiative. This strategy welcomed Japan, Taiwan, India, and the People’s Republic of China as new partners to build a unified force in global trade.

Mr. Suttipong Damrongsakul, President of AGJA, stated that co-organizing JGAB with Informa Markets Thailand is a significant milestone in elevating ASEAN’s role on the international stage. “The world’s uncertainty has become ASEAN’s opportunity,” said Mr. Suttipong. While trade between major powers has contracted, the ASEAN Plus network continues to grow, helping to define the new world order.

A primary goal of this collaboration is to invite international buyers and businessmen to participate in concrete Business Matching opportunities. This partnership strengthens the regional network and supports sustainable global growth.

ASEAN Summit “New Formula 2026”: Held under the theme “Scaling Success through Technology & Connection,” this curated exchange provided industry intelligence on market trends, design innovations, and modern consumer behavior. Speakers included Mr. Victor Chan, Chairman, Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA); Mr. Pramod Agrawal, Chairman, National Gems and Jewellery Council of India (NGJCI); Mr. Simon Chan, Co-Founder, Board Member, and Executive Vice President, China Gems & Jade Exchange (CGE); Ms. Mia M. Florencio, Vice Chairman, ASEAN Gems and Jewellery Trade Association (AGJA), Philippines; and Ms. Shen Mei, Founding Chairwoman, Taiwan Gemmological Society (TGS).

Speakers included Ms. Karen Li, Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA); Ms. Su Mon Toe, Managing Director, Great Burma International Gem Lab (GBI); and Ms. Thitirat Siripatvanich, Chief Brand Officer, Ausiris Group.

Strategic MOU: A formal partnership between AGJA and the Guangzhou Panyu Jewelry Manufacturers Association of China marked the opening of a new chapter in regional cooperation.

Heritage and Craftsmanship: The “Quiet Luxury Jewellery” and “The Secret of Thai Legacy” showcase inspired the industry through design excellence.

With Thailand commanding over 80% of the world’s colored gemstone cutting and enhancement market, AGJA continues to provide a comprehensive platform for buyers and designers at all levels. “The future belongs to those who are ready to adapt, connect, and lead,” concluded Mr. Suttipong.
